Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves DLC Reveals Mr. Karate Is Actually Robert Garcia – Double Crossover Explained
BREAKING: Mr. Karate DLC Adds Surprise Twist to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
SNK has unveiled the next DLC character for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves – Mr. Karate – but under the iconic tengu mask is actually Robert Garcia, creating a dual crossover scenario. The announcement came during a special presentation at Evo Japan today.

This marks the first time Mr. Karate has been portrayed as a different character within SNK’s fighting game universe, making it a unique gameplay and lore development. The DLC is scheduled for May 2025, following the final Season 2 character Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star in June.
What’s New About Mr. Karate?
“This Mr. Karate is not the alter ego of Takuma Sakazaki,” said an SNK representative during the presentation. “Instead, Robert Garcia takes on the mantle, complete with a long ponytail, a suit, and his signature gold chain.” The character retains the classic tengu mask but has new animations and moves reflecting Robert’s fighting style.
Previously, Mr. Karate appeared in SNK games as Takuma’s secret identity. In Art of Fighting, Takuma was the final boss, and later used the masked persona as a hero. Now, Robert Garcia – the flamboyant best friend of Ryo Sakazaki – steps into the role, offering a fresh moveset hybrid.
Background: Two Crossovers in One Character
The announcement resolves a gap in the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Season 2 DLC schedule. Last month, SNK confirmed Kenshiro (from Fist of the North Star) as the June fighter, leaving May unassigned. Fans speculated on a second crossover character from SNK’s own library.
Mr. Karate’s inclusion is itself a crossover from the Art of Fighting series, but the Robert Garcia twist adds another layer. “It’s a double nod to both Art of Fighting fans and those who love character transformations,” said a GameSpot editorial voice. “SNK is blending universes in an unexpected way.”
The original Fatal Fury series and Art of Fighting share a continuity, with characters appearing across both. Robert Garcia, known for his wealthy background and explosive kickboxing style, now brings that energy to the masked identity.
What This Means for Players
This DLC character effectively offers two characters in one: the visual of Mr. Karate with the moves and personality of Robert Garcia. Players can expect a fast-paced, aggressive playstyle combining Robert’s kicks and Mr. Karate’s special moves like the Haoh Shokoken.
“We wanted to surprise the community and honor both Art of Fighting legacy and the mask motif,” the SNK rep added. “This opens possibilities for future crossovers where even well-known alter egos can be reinterpreted.” The May release aligns with SNK’s ongoing support for City of the Wolves, which launched in 2024 to positive reviews.
Looking Ahead: Season 2 and Beyond
With May’s Mr. Karate and June’s Kenshiro, Season 2 of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is complete. SNK has not announced a Season 3 but hinted at more crossovers. Fans can read the original full article at GameSpot for details.
The Fatal Fury franchise continues to expand its roster by pulling from SNK’s rich history. Mr. Karate’s reimagining as Robert Garcia may set a precedent for future characters. The reaction from the fighting game community has been strong, with many praising the creative decision.
